About Wande Lacreme
She was born in Lagos, Nigeria. She attended Unity School, F.G.C.Odogbolu, Ogun State and proceeded to the University of Lagos where she earned a BSc and MSc respectively in Public Relations & Advertising, Mass Communications.
Wande is a Human Resources Professional. She is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) and Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ).
Her work experience spans across Public Relations and Human Resources. As a Monitoring and Evaluations Analyst under the Presidential Amnesty Programme (GEJ Administration), she had to physically liaise with Ex- Militants in South-South, Nigeria on a monthly basis. She resigned as an Assistant Registrar, HR in a University and is now focused on her Business.
Wande is now the CEO of Gifts Arena and Food Arena. She is also the Founder of Ave Africa Welfare Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on reaching out and re-orientating victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence.
Her Entrepreneurship Journey
Her entrepreneurship journey started in 2008 when she was in her final year at Unilag, but she got her first seed capital from her Father immediately after NYSC in 2010. She was working and running her business as a side hustle.
In 2016, she was selected as one of the pioneer female recipients for the Road to Growth Business programme, organized by The Cherie Blaire Foundation for Women Entrepreneurs in Nigeria.
By 2017, she also became one of the pioneer beneficiaries of a Business Trust Fund. This same year, through hard work with her business, she also became a “Landlady”.
Surviving The Dark Times
Success kept coming with everything she set her mind to achieve until things changed suddenly.
Within the space of 20 months:
– Her marriage was in shambles (thankfully her marriage is now stronger than ever before)
– Her business was in shambles and she lost investment in the sum of millions of Naira
– She left a promising job as an Assistant Registrar in a University
– She lost a very close friend/sister to cancer after a nine-year battle
– Then she lost her child… (The worst of all)
Depression, anxiety, fear and pain set in. It was a terrible time but she got the help of God and also a Psychiatrist.
Starting Over
Because of her resilience, she made the conscious decision to start over. She has always been more passionate about her business than her job and so she decided to start her business all over from scratch.
Today, she runs her own businesses and she is also a Trainer. She teaches startups how to run their businesses online with little capital as a side hustle or home business.
She wants every woman out there to know that there is no limit to what they can achieve no matter how many times they fall. They have to be determined and resilient.
