Ufuomaee’s The Naive Wife Trilogy Is Entertaining & Thought-Provoking; It Deserves All The Accolades It’s Getting!

The Naive Wife (Rachel’s Diary) is the second book in The Naive Wife Trilogy written by Christian writer Ufuomaee.

It is a continuation of Rachel, Doug, Dongjap, and Ejike’s stories. We get a glimpse into Rachel’s diary at the beginning of this book, and it is evident that all isn’t well with her marriage.

Rachel’s Diary, like the first part of the trilogy, is well written and enjoyable. It features the characters from Rachel’s Choice and introduces new ones.

Rachel’s Diary paints a vivid picture of what it feels like to be stuck in a bad marriage.

Marriage can be challenging but with a willing partner and the right counselling, many marital issues can be resolved. But what happens when one partner is unwilling to make the marriage work? The pain of a bad marriage is real and superficial pieces of advice do nothing to ease the pain of a person stuck in one. This is why I love the practicality of the issues and lessons of this book. Issues like infidelity, temptation, money matters, lack of communication, friendship in marriage, and many more.

We see Christians struggle with the temptation of having a marital affair. Do they succumb? How do you deal with pain especially when it feels like God isn’t answering your prayers? How do you handle temptation?

One of the things that will leap out at you in this book is how God provides us with comfort even in our pain and how He indeed provides a way out of temptations. Whether we recognize and take the way is another matter entirely.

I love how this book is filled with marital lessons passed in a way that doesn’t take away its entertainment value because let’s be sincere; no one wants to read a boring novel.

Asides from the marital lessons, I love how the author subtly emphasizes the importance of support systems and accountability partners. Rachel’s relationship with her father is admirable; there are a few lessons to be learnt in her relationship with both parents.

One other big lesson that cannot be overlooked is never going into marriage if you have unresolved feelings for another. It doesn’t matter if the person you have feelings for is unavailable. Make sure you are completely over them before tying the knot with someone else.

We will continue to see happy and bad marriages in society. Hopefully, the former is more than the latter. One of the ways we can ensure this happens is to balance marital counselling and advice. It takes two people to run a successful marriage hence the onus of working on marriage should lay on both the man and woman and not just the woman.

I can’t share all the goodies in this book. I hope you catch all of them as you read. Shine your eye when reading; you don’t want to miss a thing. One more thing, get the third part. Some of us had to wait for months before reading the final part; trust me, when you are done reading Rachel’s Diary, you’d want to read Rachel’s Hope immediately.

Ufuomaee’s Rachel’s Diary is an entertaining, inspiring, thought-provoking book. It deserves all the accolades it’s been receiving.
