Her Passion For Natural Hair
We asked Omolola Aluko why she is so passionate about her work, and she said: I have always loved to make hair and grew up with a natural flair for it. I also grew up in the North where women did not usually apply relaxers to their hair and had very long hair.
I used to apply relaxers to my hair and even though it was very long, I began to battle with damaged edges. So I started to research and came across a group of women on Facebook who did not relax their hair but kept to their natural roots.
I started to warm up to the idea of returning natural since I did not retouch it more than three times a year anyways. I decided to chop off my relaxed hair in 2014 and less than a year after, my hair started to recover. Other women began to take notice and ask what I was doing. I would offer free consultation services but they always came back to suggest that I do it for them while they pay for the service.
I realized this was a gap and I was plugging the gap with the information I had. Hence, my salon business began. I slowly transitioned the business from being a jewellery brand into a haircare brand.
