Hembadoon is a singer, songwriter, thespian, music executive and entrepreneur out of Nigeria who attributes her craft to the broad range of music she was exposed to from a very young age.
Having released her first commercial title “Odo Aye” and dominated radio charts in 2003, she went on to work as an Abuja on-air Radio personality, a contributing entertainment writer in one of the leading Nigerian Newspapers, and sang backup for South African singer Somti Mndebele on her Nigerian tour.
She has also worked as a Public Relations and A&R executive for organizations that handled PR for some of today’s biggest Afrobeat superstars in her over a decade long career including Ice Prince, Classiq, Olamide, Burna Boy, Asa, Jesse Jagz, Simi and Katung Aduwak.
Hembadoon relaunched her commercial music career in 2020 with the release of her single “Lady” and held a media parley and showcase in April 2021.
Hembadoon’s quest to improve her craft has led her into musical theatre where she has stood out, writing a song for a feature play in the British Council Lagos Theatre Festival (February 2019), Performing the role of Hajiya Gambo Sawaba in Ayo Ajayi’s OMG the Musical (June 2019) and a supporting role for MUSON @ 25 (October 2021).
She also delivered a command performance before the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo in December 2021 to celebrate PEBEC@5
Her work in music has also led her to enlighten independent artists in the hinterlands on the prospects and techniques of self-promotion, taking her crusade to Jos, Makurdi, Calabar and Lagos. This she does as the Artistes & Label Services Director at TuneAfrique Distribution.
Currently working on her album project, Hembadoon’s ambition is to leave a lasting legacy, grow her audience across different continents, become a voice of reason and influence change, as well as perform and write songs for music festivals, theatre, animation and movies.
Hembadoon is working on an album project, a number of EPs and Live showcases projects across Nigeria – to be announced soon. She’s also focused on exchange programs that will see her collaborate with independent artists in other parts of the world. This also applies to her work in theatre as well.
