Dr Bola Oyelakin-Ogungbadejo: Speaking Up Against FGM Can Save The Life And Future Of A Girl Child

According to WHO, “Female genital mutilation (FGM) involves the partial or total removal of external female genitalia or other injuries to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons”

Despite the adverse effects this practice has on girls and women, some communities still continue to carry out this barbaric act. But thanks to advocates like Dr. Bola Oyelakin-Ogungbadejo, the awareness continues to spread through education, advocacy, and support for survivors.

In the video below, she enlightens us about the dangers of FGM and what we can do to take action against it.

One or more in every 500 girls die during or after the cutting process of FGM, while the rest of the girls suffer various forms of health complications. Whether short-term or long-term complications, these complications affect the lives, future, and happiness of these girls involved…
